Bi Yeke Island in Puerto Rico, two ancient South American tribes (Saladoids and Huecoids) peaceful coexistence 1,000 years, from AD 5 to AD 1170.

Saladoids people because of their red and white pottery and open to learn from other cultures and famous. In contrast, Huecoids is the mysterious craft, they can elaborately carved stones, and stick to their own customs.

In the past 20 years, archaeologists have been arguing about whether these two tribes belong to the same civilization, or originated from different cultures in today’s Venezuela and Bolivia. Thus, the researchers turned to human feces fossils – since these tribal settlements excavated fossil excrement.

These ancient stool (pictured) contains intestinal bacteria, which provides two tribes diet clues. After the extraction and analysis of fossil feces core DNA, the researchers found that although the two tribes are eating seafood, but only a sample Saladoids contains freshwater parasites. Fossil core did not receive contaminated soil microorganisms.

The research team said that these results show that the tribe would regularly eat sashimi. On the other hand, Huecoids people showed a preference for corn and fungi. Different diet implies two tribes, they do belong to different civilizations. Researchers recently published related results in the “Public Library of Science – Integrated” on.
